What exactly is StudyMover?
StudyMover is an online offer from MARKS MEDIA in Cologne and provides partner companies with transporters and drivers to students who want to plan and carry out their move themselves.
The offer is mainly aimed at students who are moving from or to Cologne, Bonn or Düsseldorf. For other cities can be requested with pleasure.
However, as an intermediary, StudyMover is not a transport company itself.
Can I move on weekends or holidays?
Yes, our partner companies also carry out removal transport on weekends and holidays.
But also during the week trips are possible until late in the evening about 8 pm.
How to pay for the removal transport?
You arrange the payment directly with the transport company that we arrange for you.
Normally, payment is made in cash to the driver at the starting address and is confirmed in writing by a receipt. You will receive a proper invoice from the transport company within a few days when the transport is completed.
Who is my contact person in case of questions or problems?
For all questions or problems concerning the online offer or the internet presence of StudyMover, the site operator named in the imprint (MARKS MEDIA Köln) is your contact person.
For everything else, i.e. what has to do with the booked moving truck, the driver and the process of the move, the mediated transport company is responsible.

How exactly does the move work? Explained step by step!
First you fill out the booking form and enter all the important data such as the address, the date and the desired duration of the move. If you have received an individual offer from us, you must also enter the offer number.
We will forward your booking to selected partner companies. These are transport companies that will provide you with a van and a driver for your move.
When the driver arrives on time, he will park as close as possible to your front door. From now on, the calculation of the booked time begins. Now you load your furniture and household goods into the van with the help of your family, friends or other fellow students. Please note that the driver will not help you carry the furniture, as his job is only to drive the van. Tension straps and blankets will be in the vehicle.
After everything is loaded, the driver will check if everything is safely stowed and then drive directly to the destination address. By arrangement with the transport company, up to two people can ride in the van.
Once you arrive at your destination, you start unloading the furniture. Once all the items are out of the vehicle, the time calculation ends. If more time has passed than planned, you pay the difference to the driver and receive a cash receipt from him. The transport company will then send you the invoice in a short time by e-mail.
How and when will I know who my carrier is?
After sending the booking, it takes up to 12 hours until we process your request. We will forward your request to a suitable transport company in your area with all the data you have provided. At the same time, we will inform you of your responsible transport company by e-mail.
Within 12 hours you will receive a booking confirmation, a cancellation (if the vehicle is not available) or another date suggestion directly from the transport company.
This is where StudyMover's mediation service ends and the transport company is now your contact and contractual partner.
What are the dimensions of the transporters?
Our partners drive vans such as Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit or Iveco Daily.
Depending on the vehicle model, the dimensions of the loading area are approximately:
Length = 3.30 to 4.20 m
Width = 1.60 to 1.70 m
Height = 1,80 to 1,90 m

I need help carrying - Will the driver help me with my move?
Basically, the drivers of our partner companies do not help with the move, you would still have to organize the necessary removal helpers yourself (at the moment).
This is because the drivers are only employed as such in the companies. They do not only move, but also transport pallets and other goods.
You can ask your family, friends or fellow students to help with the move.
We are currently planning to recruit students as moving helpers in the future. You will find out when we are ready here on StudyMover.
Are there moving accessories like blankets and tie-down straps?
By default, there are always some moving blankets, straps and possibly a hand truck or rolling boards for heavy furniture and appliances, such as the washing machine in the vehicle.
If you have a specific request regarding moving accessories, you can also contact our partner company directly after booking.
How to pay for the removal transport?

Can I ride with the driver in the van?
Usually this is not a problem, because the drivers know that many students do not have their own car or otherwise would come parallel with your furniture to the destination address.
However, you have to clarify this directly with the arranged transport company. Due to the risk of contagion by Corona there might be exceptions.
What if not all my furniture fits in the van?
The vans are generally large enough for an average student move, so everything should be able to be transported in one trip.
However, if you really have so much furniture and boxes that it is necessary to drive the route several times, you will still be charged by time. You can find the exact amounts - even if you exceed the free hours - under the item RATES in the main menu.
Is my furniture insured against damage during transport?
The transport company is responsible for the liability of damages that occur during the removal transport, as StudyMover acts only as a broker.
All transportation companies are required by law to have transportation insurance.

Booking and cancellation

Are there any requirements for booking on StudyMover?
Our mediation service and the associated rates are only available to students who have a student ID or are already enrolled in a degree program (matriculation).
If this does not (currently) apply to you, you are welcome to request a quote without obligation.
I have sent my booking - will the transporter come?
When booking, you will be asked whether a transporter with driver is available on the selected moving date.
This is not yet a binding booking or order!
Only when you receive a written confirmation from the transport company, the booking and thus the transporter is finally booked.
You should receive a confirmation or a cancellation within 12 hours after sending the form.
I have not received a confirmation after my booking - what now?
Normally, you should receive a confirmation, cancellation or other proposed appointment within 12 hours of your booking.
On weekends and holidays, some companies are closed, so the booking can only be processed the next business day.
How can I cancel my booking again?
In case of cancellation, please contact the transport company directly, you will receive the contact details shortly after your booking.
Attention - Do not send a cancellation to StudyMover!
After the mediation of a transport company the contract of use ends and with it the responsibility of StudyMover. From that point on, the mediated transport company is your contractual partner.
Can I cancel free of charge?
In the case of cancellations, the reserved time can usually not be refilled with other customers, the transport company incurs costs.
Up to 48 hours before your booked moving date you can cancel your transporter for free.
For cancellations up to 24 hours before your moving date, a cancellation fee of 50% of the booked rate will be charged.
However, if you have received and booked an individual quote, you will also be charged 50% of the estimated cost.
Before you cancel a booking, first consider whether it would be better to postpone the date.
